Returning Back to my Studio and to Etsy...

Many years were spent training to be a metal smith at The Art League in Alexandria, VA. I forged many wonderful friendships with fellow artists. In 2007 I opened my Etsy shop. Etsy was super young and was an fun place to maneuver around, meet other shop owners and dare I say it truly felt hand made.

Everyone had a blog and we all caught up with one another as new items were produced. We shared some tips, commented on our creations and encouraged each other with tips for sales.

There were get-togethers with Smith-playdates, yes, most of us have studios set up in our homes.

However the chemicals involved in creating intricate jewelry and the hammering took a bit of a toll on my joints.

After a break I went back to the beginning and changed the name of my shop and made this simpler for my artistic outlet. Selling my many years of collected tools was easy as so many friend and other artisans were usually on the look out for a good deal with a well used (and nicely kept) piece of machinery or simple tool. I did keep most of my tiny files and hammers, a few gadgets for some cold-connection work.

More to come...
